Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently urged Indian companies operating in Jordan to explore opportunities to establish manufacturing units for medicines and medical devices.
On his official visit to Jordan in December 2025, PM Modi emphasized the key role Indian pharmaceutical companies could play in enhancing the availability of affordable medicines and medical devices in the region.
The talks also focused on strengthening health tech collaborations, with an emphasis on boosting digital infrastructure in the region.
Modi emphasized the potential of this partnership to enhance the accessibility and affordability of healthcare solutions, both in Jordan and the broader Middle East, while fostering innovation in medical technology.
Highlighting Jordan’s strategic location and its access to regional markets, Modi emphasized the potential of such partnerships in driving healthcare innovation and supply chain development in the region.
The PM further added that leveraging Jordan's favorable trade environment and skilled workforce can lead to the development of critical healthcare products such as generic drugs, vaccines, and diagnostic devices.
During discussions with Jordanian leaders, Modi stated, “Our pharmaceutical companies can play a pivotal role in enhancing the availability of affordable medicines and medical devices in the region.”
