Servers of Two Delhi Hospitals Hacked, FIR Registered
The cyberattack compromised patient data, financial records, and administrative files, causing significant disruption to hospital operations.
Delhi Police has registered an FIR after the servers of two hospitals in north Delhi—Sant Parmanand Hospital in Civil Lines and NKS Super Speciality Hospital in Gulabi Bagh—were allegedly hacked late Tuesday night.
The cyberattack compromised patient data, financial records, and administrative files, causing significant disruption to hospital operations.
DCP (north) Raja Banthia said, "A case has been registered under section 66 (Computer-related offences) of the Information and Technology Act, and technical experts are being used to trace the source of the hack."
Hospitals Activate Manual Systems
Authorities at NKS Super Speciality Hospital confirmed the breach impacted access to digital patient information, affecting both outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) services. The incident occurred during the night of June 10-11. "The attack had severely disrupted the hospital's servers, affecting access to digital patient information and impacting some outpatient and inpatient services," the hospital said.
Manual systems were activated to maintain essential services. Sant Parmanand Hospital had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting.
Police Investigating Source of Cyberattack
According to sources, hospital staff initially mistook the disruption for a technical issue. However, investigations by IT teams confirmed it was a deliberate cyberattack. Both hospitals then alerted the authorities, leading to police intervention.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the source of the breach.
